Susan McBride, PhD, RN-BC, CPHIMS, FAAN, is a clinical nursing informaticist at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. As a professor at Texas Tech, she teaches DNP courses, including statistics, informatics, epidemiology, and population health at the organizational and public policy level. She is also the director of the master’s and postmaster’s nursing informatics programs. Dr. McBride’s clinical expertise also includes perioperative and cardiovascular nursing, with a research focus on methods development for implementing, evaluating, and utilizing large health care datasets and health information technology (HIT) to improve patient safety and quality within the health care delivery system. She has developed and deployed software and services with executive oversight in the for-profit and not-for-profit arenas. Most recently, she supported operational activity and administrative oversight of the West Texas Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (WTxHITREC) under the F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health in a senior leadership role. Her focused activities include advising practices and hospitals on workflow redesign, clinical decision support, strategies to assist providers in meeting meaningful use of electronic health records (EHRs), quality measures, and analytics using certified EHR technology. Her current research involves an EHR-enhanced simulation program to develop best-practice competencies in the use of EHRs for interprofessional teams and evaluation of the use of social media initiatives in improving population health.

I liked the story, it has a good flow but I hated the ads in between the chapters. Normally I would have bought the second book in this series immediately. Because of the annoying ads, that also recommend this next book, I'm in doubt. This was also the first book I ever read of this author and I'm not sure if I want to take the risk of buying another one. There are so many other good books without the ads that I don't think it is worth my money. Because I did pay for this book. Had it been a free book, I probably wouldn't be so annoyed about it.

I really enjoyed the book and like the authors style. The book is a clean and easy read. No sex and no swear words. I would recommend to all ages. The marriage proposal fell a little flat for me. Not really romantic and then the story abruptly ended.

For the most part I enjoyed the story. The flow and character development worked and I was engaged in the story from beginning to the end. I never felt like the story dragged or got boring.Fisher is dreamy. The perfect guy who has it all - looks, money, and personality. Stacey on the other hand, seems like a loose cannon. She is always overreacting and then apologizing.The ending seems a bit difficult to believe, but maybe it could happen. Also, I'd have liked an epilogue to wrap up the final loose ends. But, maybe one of the next books in the series will include Fisher and Stacey as extra characters and we'll get to see what happens next.Romance - PG - kissing and discussion of sex.Language - PG / cleanMy rating - 4 stars

This is the 2nd book I have read in this series and can’t wait until the third one comes out. It is amazing how unsettling it can be when you have been hurt so many times. Let’s face it, Brainy people a lot times don’t have common sense. Oh the mess they can make. Enjoy.

The Brainy Billionaire is the story of Fisher and Stacey. One owns a huge hotel and the other a bed and breakfast. Trying to compete with others does not always come out well. Each person is different and everyone needs to be himself. This is a good story of two very different people who are attracted to one another. Because of past relationship hurts, it is difficult to completely trust. I recommend this book which I received free and have chosen on my own to write an honest review.

This was a love story between two 30+ people who had been burned in love before and were cautious about risking their hearts again. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop and the fact that they were mature enough to not break things off when difficulties arose. I thought the characters were well developed and the plot well paced. It's the first book I've read that featured a tropical storm, for sure. I did receive a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review, which this is.

This is cute story about sort of enemies to lovers. Fisher owns a new hotel that is built in Hawaii, Stacey owns a B and B also there. She thinks she will lose business. She goes undercover in his hotel to see what it is like. She ends up meeting him there. Love her group of ladies that she hangs out with. The ones that have had bad relationships in the past and swear off men. Love the ups and downs of their relationship once they connect. Cute story and beautiful ending.

Wonderful Bed & Breakfast owner, Stacy, hates the new resort opening down the beach. She schedules to stay the night in one of their rooms, the owner Fisher, is her bus boy. Fisher is on convert mission to find out all about his resort and make improvements accordingly. He is struck by her presence. She can't get him out of her head. Will they put aside the difference and make a go at being a couple, time will tell.

I’m recommending this book now to all my younger students who need to fill their heads with these common tactical patterns. This is great for my students who cannot get online to do tactics (Chesstempo.com is, in my opinion, the best site for Tactics and students always need to be doing (Blitz) tactics). I will now give my best about what I dislike and like about this book.The Negatives: #1: The Book Cover. If there was a hardback edition I would have quickly purchased it. This paperback edition is going to get lots of mileage and I can imagine at some point it will be bent up and scuffed in my coach bag. #2: No board coordinates on the diagrams is kind of a bust for my young students who are still learning Algebraic Notation. However, I guess people can say it is a plus since it will teach you to look at the board like that. #3: All diagrams are from White’s point of view. It may be a personal taste, but I enjoy looking at positions from the attacking player’s perspective (Black included). That may bother some people but others not.The Positives: #1: Dang son, didn’t I tell you this book at 3,003 puzzles?! Holy Crap! I’m wondering if I will be able to get through most of them in 1 year. I doubt it but let’s do another review when I finish it. I think the author, Tsvetkov, did an amazing job assembling so many RECENT puzzles! He comments in the Introduction, “Most of the games… from recent practice, 2016-2018,”. #2: The solution to the puzzle is located below the Diagram which saves me from flipping to the back of the book for the answer (causing more wear and tear on the book). If this bothers people I suggest covering up the answer with a sticky note, write the answer to the problem, then check it. I also encourage my students to take a pencil to problems and draw lines they are looking at to see the big picture when the tactic is solved. #3: Large Diagrams. No, my eyes are not getting bad and I can see just fine, I guess I enjoy looking at a good-sized diagram than squinting to see. Some people may notice that since the diagrams are larger pixilation can also be noticed, that really doesn’t bother me. #4: GREAT commentary of the puzzle solutions, the author gives the reader “tips”, “rules”, and useful comments to how he got the answer. I believe students really need this part in their Chess education from stronger players: How the tactic is being analyzed. Sometimes there are other sub-lines and he will address them. #5: All types of Tactical patterns (and Checkmates) given. The author sometimes labels what type of tactic the reader is looking at, which is helpful if you haven’t seen it before. #6: The Variations are not extremely long, and I find that helpful for growing students not to frustrate them. “the maximum length of lines being capped at 6moves/12 plies,” says the author. After going through the first 50 puzzles I’ve noticed more 3 movers which is perfect for Intermediate players and Advanced players trying to grow their Chess Vision. #7: The Price of the book is fair for the Paperback edition and worth every penny. I’m old school and I enjoy having a good book in my hands with my coffee in the evenings. The Kindle version is cheaper, but you will not be able to really cover up the solutions if you are aiming to solve these one by one.Overall: This should be “The Last Tactics Book You Will Ever Need” – get it. The Positives should outweigh the negatives on this one. I hope you found this review helpful. I’m recommending it to all student levels from (500 to 2200).

I guess it's the Yin-Yang principle, but some of my likes for this book are dislikes for other reviewers: 1) Lack of board coordinates. Forces you to conceptualize the algebraic move, which in turn should strengthen your skill at calculation. (I say should strengthen, because this continues to be a weakness for me, one that I'm working on.) 2) Lack of a thematic approach to the puzzles. Again, I see this as a strength. A normal chess game will present you with a chaos of choices, not an organized series of pins, x-rays, discoveries, etc. An organized grouping of puzzles by type has its place, but organizing them by type kind of gives away the answer. 3) Concise description of the solution. Lots of chess books get too wordy. This one cuts to the chase and tells you what you need to know. 4) English improved over other titles by this author. I'm not a stickler for perfect English. In fact, I enjoy the quaint and unexpected usage found with ESL writers (professional like Joseph Conrad, nonprofessional like what you find in YT comments on chess games). However, unclear writing is usually not a good thing, especially when it comes to a book on chess. I found no unclear writing here. Maybe Mr Tsvetkov found a buddy to help review his work.Dislikes: only one, the close proximity of the puzzle solution to the puzzle itself. I totally understand the author's reluctance to avoid reproducing the solution with a second copy of the position. This would have doubled the size of the book. However, a couple of carriage returns moving the solution a few lines down from the puzzle would have done wonders in giving the reader a better chance to avoid seeing the solution on the page turn. In any event, you have to train yourself NOT to look at the solution when you first look at the puzzle. This is easily done on the Kindle where at first glimpse of the puzzle, you click on it. This will enlarge it on the screen and take it away from any text on the page.I prefer the eBook format myself because it's so portable, because you don't have to set up the position on a chess board, and because it's so much cheaper than other formats. But to each their own.All in all, this book offers a fresh look at tactics for some or a good review of tactics for others (who think they already know this stuff but probably don't).

Very nice book. Lots of puzzles and nice puzzles. Initially I suspected a simple puzzle book, but the puzzles are creative. Some may not like that the answers are at the bottom of the puzzle, but I am not one of those people, I hate having to go back and forth to check answers, here it is on the same page. A thing to keep in mind is that the author gives an written explanation of the answer, so it is nice to have the puzzle and the explanation on the same page. I think it would be crazy to have to flip back and forth for every puzzle, in ordered to read the explanation. You are not just given an answer, but the author explains why the answer is correct. You just have to be honest with yourself and not cheat by peaking at the answers. he style of book reminds me of lev alburts pocket book (I cant recall the exact title) except that this is a super sized version. Great book and nice explanations, something many puzzle books lack.

Of course I haven't finished this yet; that may take me years. But so far, the book seems quite useful for practice and quite carefully authored. The answers would be better located elsewhere, I suppose, but their current placement isn't causing me any real problems.I have the kindle edition, and it's a convenience. I'll lug it along on vacation, gladly. I normally don't review so fast, but I thought I'd help to soften the impact of harsher reviews with which I just can`t agree.

This book is a must have for any fan of the comic book Fables and it's spin-offs. This contains nearly every major character in the comics with wonderfully detailed origins and very colorful pages. Two notes I should point out though. If your looking for anything stories behind the Fairest spin-off, this book covers very little...almost nothing. Also, this book has some huge spoilers, so if your only reading the deluxe editions I strongly suggest you hold this off until you finish the Cubs in Toyland arch. However, if you want spoilers then go head an get this book. Your mundy mind will thank you.

This is even a better purchase than I thought it would be. I thought it would just be the history of the characters within the series, but it also tells where the character originated in the world of folklore and literature. Beautiful book, fantastic presentation, and a great addition to any Fables collection.

This is a must for the bookshelf or virtual bookshelf of any fables fan. Full of interesting information and beautiful art work taken from the comics, this could be subtitled: everything one wanted to know about the fables comic! Bravo!

This graphic novel was informative and gave insight into the "why's" of the creative team. New original artwork would have made it that much more enjoyable to read.

Highly recommend the entire series, great writing, beautiful art, fantastic stories.

This is a perfect companion to have with you while reading Fables comics. Its explains the backgrounds of every fairy tale character that makes an appearance as well as how the author twisted their character to fit into the comic book world. Includes some sneak peaks at great character developments too!

This is a beautifully illustrated, well written collection of background information about all the characters you know and love (or hate) in Bill Willingham's Fables worlds. It includes tidbits of real world mythology and legends as well as insight into the whys and wherefores of the Fable versions of classic characters such as the Big Bad Wolf and the North Wind. I am very glad to have added it to my admittedly obsessive Fables collection.

I really love this whole series. This encyclopedia made keeping track of characters simple.
