I was (and am) a little humorously worried that my son will catch on to the "it's cool to wake mom and dad up super early on your birthday" theme, but aside from that page - this book is amazing and right in line with the other Pookie books. My 1 year old son loves pointing out the balloon, the breakfast details (blueberries for eyes, etc). He even gets into the story and shouts "AH!" when we get to the "are there more surprises?!" page. Definitely one of his favorite books.

This is our second Little Pookie book. We absolutely LOVE the Spookie Pookie Halloween book, so I purchased Happy Birthday Little Pookie for my son's 2nd birthday. He really enjoys Pookie and I love the story line about Little Pook waking up early on his birthday and how sleepy the mom and dad look. The illustrations are very cute and it's a great book to read to your little one during their birthday month!

I ordered this in lieu of a card for my toddler's birthday. It's a sweet book; the rhyme is just slightly different from the other Boynton books we own, and I was a little thrown when I first read it. (hence the 4 out of 5 stars) BUT, my little one loves it, adores Pookie, and likes to have this book read to her over and over and over. It will be a hit.

This is such a lovely book. I used to read this to my children since they were babies, they love it so much that now that they can read, they read it themselves and to their younger siblings.

A 2018 tour book with wrong and confusing information! I preordered the book, but it is a big disappointment! For example, it recommended Oudayas Cafe as a place when you need a break (p160) in Rabat. The Cafe is inside the Oudayas Museum. However, according to the Google Map, the museum is permanently closed! Also the city maps inside the book look very different from the Google maps of the same areas. I tried to mark our hotels in several cities on the maps in the book after I located them in the Google Map, but it's really difficult to do that.From the preorder info posted on Amazon, the photos were beautiful with a good resolution, but when I got the book, there are only very few photos. In most well-known attractions there is simply no photo! Very disappointed! I like to walk around the old city centers when I travel in a new city, but there is no suggested walk-around street routes. I have to buy another tour book to cover that!

Amazing. I bought this as a gift for my husband as we are both huge Stephen King fans. He was completely surprised. It looks exactly the way I would have imagined it from the Dark Tower novels and follows that story perfectly.I really don't know why some people are saying it has nothing to do with Dark Tower. May be time for a re-read of the series if you don't remember this.

Who wouldn't love a children's book by Stephen King?!? It's great little stand alone story that fits perfectly with the one described in the Dark Tower series. While it's illustrations are a little on the troubling side, but not too obvious, it's still a good overall kids story. My 7 year old found it and wanted me to read it to him at bed time. I hesitantly agreed. He loved it and now it's one of his favorite bed time stories!

A Charlie by any other name... A great book that mimics the one in Wastelands in all but two ways. First: no 'buy war bonds' ad inside. Second: instead of "Sometimes the other engineers laughed at bob," It's now "The other engineers laughed at bob." Enough of a difference to tickle Calvin Tower I wot.

This children's book is just as creepy as it was in the Dark Tower series. Any fans of Mid-World need to own and read this book! The pictures are super creepy, and I would not recommend it for children- this one is for adults who want to read a book from before the world moved on.

If you're a tower fan you know what this is and already love it. Ignore the low star reviews because they obviously aren't hard core king or tower fans. Perfect! Exactly what I expected.Now if you've not read the tower you might be a tad confused about our friend Charlie and why it is a kids story and short ... and if that is you I say go forth and read the tower, and you will understand.

Naysayers...Grow a sense of humor. This is a fiction within a fiction and the novelty of it aligns perfectly with S.K.'s sense of humor, my cullies. It is for people who are intimately familiar with the term CONSTANT READER.....That Stephen King is a trig cove, so he is.....

Everything you’d expect, no needed, from this book. It couldn’t be better. But beware... this is a book for children from a time gone by. This book is not for children from any world that’s moved on.

Read the Gunslinger series from Stephen King and you will understand the nuances of this story. The illustrations have an opposite ironic text than the overly happy, sugary storyline. Just creepy enough to be brilliant, but I wouldn't buy this book for the kiddies unless you want to scare them to death! Buhahahaha!!!

It's as much about coach Pop Warner as about the great Jim Thorpe, both of whom were wandering, battered souls much like the restless, hurt souls of the great Jockey (Red Pollard) and the great trainer (Tom Smith) in Seabiscuit.It's also a book about the horrors inflicted by whites on Native Americans in schools like the Carlisle Indian School - schools designed to "civilize" Indians by taking the Indian out of them and leaving with "employable" skills that proved useless when graduates found that employers wouldn't hire Indians, skilled or otherwise. Mainly, it's a book about how uprooted Native American students at the Carlisle school, coached by a man who motivated his players to use the game of football to even score of what whites had inflicted on their people, were able over the course of many arduous seasons to finally and decisively demonstrate their superior teamwork, endurance and athletic prowess to the condescending football elites of their time: Yale, Harvard, Princeton and Penn. Handsomely produced, beautifully illustrated, fully researched with exhaustive notes and bibliography, this book is rarity in modern day publishing. Has anyone purchased the movie rights for it?

My son needed to pick a book for a report at school. He is REALLY into sports, and particularly football. He wanted to pick a sports book, so I encouraged him to find one on Jim Thorpe. He was reluctant, since he had never heard of Jim Thorpe. He read this book in five days and loved every minute of it. Hats off to Mr. Sheinkin for a well-researched book that is great reading for kids and adults alike. I'm so happy that my son now shares my admiration for this American sports legend.

Great read, having been born & raised in Oklahoma all my life it's particularly interesting to know personaly the of places of Thorpe's youth. An amazing individual who overcame great odds to become the greatest athlete in tbe 20th century.

Read it in two days. It's a page turner with amazing photos. Very well researched. Thank you for writing this eye-opening book.

Amazing book. I learned so much about history and Jim Thorpe. I loved it and don't even like football. I can't believe how much I learned!

Excellent book. I was instantly drawn in and remained fully engaged throughout. It’s fair to say I could hardly put it down. It painted such a vivid portrait of Jim Thorpe and the other Carlisle Indian School Boys, at the same time it smashed through stereotypes as easily as Jim Thorpe himself ran through the line.

This book is a must read for any football fan...there were things in here I never knew concerning the origins of the game of football and how great an athlete Jim Thorpe was...really shows and brings to light some negatives as well as positives of American culture as well as some dark times in the nations history as it concerns how a whole culture of people were treated versus how they should have been treated at the turn of the 20th Century...well written book...reads like a tragedy...I highly recommend! You will learn something when you finish this book...I appreciate the authors research and honesty in the subject matter...
