This book was a mainstay of meals while our kids were growing up. Favorites were taco pie, impossible quiche with smoked salmon and asparagus and ham and veggies. Possibilities are endless with the base. However use 3 eggs instead of two and a bit of cream with the milk to make a better pie. We've found cooking temperatures and times vary with what you add, especially if it's like a frozen productWatch for color and make sure a knife inserted comes out clean. Also do not take from oven and put in a casserole carrier as it the product will continue to cook. Let cool for some time.

We raise chickens and supply our grown kids families with eggs. Chickens were laying faster than we were using so I got us all this little cookbook.We are having fun trying all the different pies and comparing notes and pictures of our creations. The recipes are simple to follow and my 8 year old granddaughter has decided when mom has this on the supper menu, it's her night to cook.

Ok, I can't really cook, and I really don't have time to try either. I've been looking for years for a cookbook with brain dead recipes that is cheap, easy to make, and most important to me, easy to carry. I'm a very busy person and needs to muti-task between work and school. I heard about Bisquick for years but never used it. I bought this book, sight unseen, because I thought it sounded too good to be true on how easy it is, that I would just give it a shot. This is the best book I ever got for realist recipes that I can make. I baked the Cheeseburger Pie, while I was cleaning my apt and doing homework. 25 mins in the oven, it came out great. With the leftovers, I reheated it in the microwave and it came out good. This is a great book to give to somebody who can't or has very limited skills cooking or a college student, who has access to a oven or a toaster oven that can bake. If you want to make it a gift theme, give them the book, a pie pan, and a box of Bisquick. I can not wait till have I the chance to try out the other recipes but the best thing is that each recipe comes with a calorie count for each slice.

Have made a number of these recipes already and love them! More compliments from my husband than I've had in years! I especially appreciate the calorie information. Well written recipes with easy to find ingredients. I highly recommend this book.

When I ordered this book I was hoping for easy recipes using ingredients that I already have in my kitchen. Sometimes it's just too much effort to make a special trip to the grocery store! This book is full of great recipes!

This began in 1978 with Bisquick's recipe for crustless pie recipes and it sprang into a following which shared recipes and menus around this concept. Here are collection of recipes shared over the years in newsletters, all featuring the "Impossible Easy" concept and utilizing readily available and easy to use ingredients such as milk, eggs, cheese, etc.There are probably 100 of these recipes so easy to make and delicious to serve and enjoy. Feast your menus on such as: Mexican Fiesta Pie, Chicken Tamale Pie, Turkey Ranch Pie,Sausage and Cheese Pie, Shrimp and Spinach Quiche Pie,Mixed Berry Crumble Pie, Peaches n' Cream Pie,Fudgy Chocolate Pecan Pie, Butterscoth Pecan Pie.These are all easy to prepare, and would be ideal moments to partner up with your children to cook these together.There is wonderful history and Q&A section, as well as some great color photos and menu suggestions.

When I first heard about the Flint water crisis, I just couldn't believe it. An entire city no longer had safe drinking water. The Poisoned city examines the events that led up to this crisis. Throughout the book, Clark slowly reveals the history of Flint, which at times i found kind of boring, but I recognize that it is necessary to truly understand how unique this city is.Clark's account reveals that this kind of catastrophe is a result of decaying infrastructure. The population of flint has decreased significantly over the past 50 years, but the city water system is still the same size. I was shocked to discover that people living in flint had some of the highest water bills in the country.This is an interesting book, but I don't believe it is the definitive account of the Flint Water Crisis. That crisis is still unfolding, and I would have liked it if Clark included more first hand accounts of the daily routine that people living there faced. The book is also vary short. It is 300 pages, but 100 of those pages are notes, and there are about 50 pages worth of Flint City History, which I didn't find all that interesting. I bought the book to learn about lead in the water, not about hunting and trading in the 1700s.

An insightful and deeply researched account not only of the Flint Water Crisis, but also it’s cultural, political and economic antecedents. Clark sets out, and succeeds, in answering the age old question posed at every tragic failure of the public trust: How could this have happened here? The answers, in all their multifarious complexity, are presented clearly, concisely and without unnecessary contempt for the bureaucrats that slept through this man-made disaster. Yes, the book discusses the individuals who bear fault for specific technical decisions in the case, but it also lays bear the decades-old and systematic governance failures that laid the foundations for these rotten public utilities. Clark is a comprehensive and deeply sympathetic researcher and an adept writer. I flew through this book and was satisfied by what I learned. The conclusion also sets forth some cogent advice for the prevention of similar public health failures. Well worth it.

This book explains very well why municipal authorities simply do not want to have real-time water quality (and other environmental parameters') monitoring. There is a real business niche for INDEPENDENT water (and air) quality monitoring and posting such information in real time. This is MANY billions' worth opportunity. The book proves it. To my taste, the book is a bit overloaded with emotional and personal information, but well, nothing is perfect. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend.

A very thorough account of this tragedy with many details I was not aware of. This book is very readable and the story is heartbreaking, especially since it is not fiction.

Excellent detail about the regional politics and the rise and fall of a once admired city. Helped me put the news stories in context and to understand what and why certain decisions were fatefully made. An easy read, and the type of book you will have trouble putting down! Very extensive research in the back that was as much fun to read as the actual story. Looking forward to Anna Clark's next publications!

I'm rarely on the edge of my seat for any book, but this telling of the Flint water crisis *hurts*. It drew me in, to tell me it's not just about poisoned water. Come for the crisis, stay for the rich history and resolution of Flint, and maybe think about your own community

December 2017, 51 years old, a non drinker, a non street drug user and yet his liver stopped working. He was told that it was going to go one of two ways. He bought the book here. He read the forward and realized this book was written for him! Starting weight 265 pounds. That was January 2018. Following the recipes and guidelines in 3 weeks he lost 15lbs.Seven months later he weighs 197 pounds. He says he feels so much better. He’s off all medication, except for 2.5milgram high blood pressure med. He is continuing with this book.

Still reading it but so far i am learning a lot on my condition and what I should do.VERY informative book. It really put me in check with my fatty liver disease. I highly recommend this to EVERYONE, as there are millions out there with this disease and do not even know it! Mine was found by accident during an ultrasound.GET THIS BOOK!!

A good starting point. You have to pay attention to your own health. I choose not to eat soy products which are high in estrogen, I'm a breast cancer survivor still on medication. I also have to pay attention to the foods with iron and vitamin C because I have Hemochromatosis. I'm glad I purchased the book, I just need additional information for my situation.

This is a mildly interesting book full of good technical information on how to make ugly furniture from salvaged paper, cardboard, wood, and plastic. I don't like the designs at all but I can imagine that some of them might appeal to a certain urban grunge demographic. However, buying the tools and renting the space to make the furniture will cost more than buying nicer stuff from IKEA.Mr. Holman's designs are technically competent but sometimes a bit obsessive. The "Un-Trashcan" for example, is a chunky wood stool that has little arms on it to hold empty plastic carry bags so that they can catch waste scraps. Mr. Holman assumes you have the floor space to put this critter. Europeans do the same thing with hooks that hang inside the cabinet door under the kitchen sink and the rest of us put a plastic supermarket bag in a bucket.Mr. Holman is wrong when he says that mineral oil will not change the color of wood. The food grade mineral oil I sometimes use as a furniture finish results in a dark "wet" look that is good in some uses but may obscure grain.I received an advance review copy of "Guerilla Furniture Design: How to Build Lean, Modern Furniture with Salvaged Materials" by Will Holman (Storey Publishing) through NetGalley.com.

I was disappointed. He does a lot of conceptual stuff, with unconventional materials, cardboard, for example. I wouldn't spend time crafting a piece of furniture out of cardboard, because it won't last long enough. He states the cardboard id recycle-able, but even still if I'm going to spend time making furniture, I want it to last. A lot of the stuff while functional, isn't really aesthetically pleasing. It just isn't really usable beyond a college dorm, if that.

Not what I was expecting. I was hoping the furniture designs were made with more lasting materials like reclaimed woods and metals. Cardboard furniture is cool but not functional in a house with kids and pets. The instructions seemed easy enough, the layout is very well done, and the pictures are great, but I was hoping it was a little more advanced. It's great for a beginner and can inspire some cool ideas, so it depends on what you are looking for.

I was excited to get this and try out some of the projects. I've now done three: the flat-pack sawhorses, the bracket chair and a bedside table.As a beginner "furniture maker" with some hack carpentry experience, it seemed like a good start of a book.But, the poor editing--which for a book such as this, should mean getting a third party to do the projects following the instructions that we'd read--has caused me frustration, and to waste my time (though it could be argued that I'm learning from these errors) and to a lesser extent, material (the ones I had to buy).A minor error for the chair: How many mending plates are needed? I counted 12, not 16. Though I ended up using two of the extras to strengthen the back support because the instructed number allowed it to give too much, and I was reluctant to lean back on it.A major one for bedside table: The instructions say to drill in the side panels of the box one hole 3-1/2" in and 2-1/2" down; I did this and the angle was way too great. I don't know what Mr. Holman wanted for the distance down, but I kept the box and holes as is and fiddled around with the leg supports, which meant having to cut lengths and angles and afix new top and bottom supports. My dowels were screwed so I went with wood scraps using, I guess, dado joints.Anyway, the book's been useful in getting me to think about the design to application process, and giving me the experience of trial and error to improve my skills in both areas. And expanding the limits of what I'm capable of doing with these projects as starting points. For example, I'm thinking about a stereo open cabinet and LP shelf using what I've learned with the bedside table.But before that, I will next try making flat-pack shelves and lamps (cubes for ceiling and variations of the scrap).One more thing:Why was the cardboard shell chair frame instructions omitted? I mean, I suppose it could be adapted to the bracket chair or some factory made chair missing a seat and back, but it would have been nice to learn other frame designs.

Don't buy this book if you are looking for plans for the chair, pictured on the cover.The bent metal seat of the chair is in the book, but not the beautiful base which is shown. Instead, they've paired it with a clunky, plywood version. The revision is probably more sturdy, but it also has a completely different, less refined, look.The nice solid wood legs are nowhere to be found, inside.

Probably has about 3 projects I would actually attempt but I haven't done so yet. Instructions are clear and there is a variety to challenge different skill levels. Pretty much is as I expected, shipped on time and I'll get some use out of it.

We are looking forward to many of the projects described in this book. Seems like so much fun to make a chair of cardboard of all things.

A few good ideas in here. Fewer bad ideas. Not enough tangible ideas or platforms from which inspiration can be drawn.

About the Author

Nan Goldin began photographing at the age of fifteen. She received a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in 1977. In 1978 she moved to New York, where she continued to document her “extended family.” These photographs, along with those taken in London, Berlin, and Provincetown, Massachusetts, became the subject of her slide shows and first book, The Ballad of Sexual Dependency (1986). Goldin’s other books include The Other Side (1993), Ten Years After (1997), and The Beautiful Smile (2008). In 1985 her work was included in the Whitney Museum of American Art’s biennial. A decade later, in 1996, a major retrospective of her work opened at the Whitney, and toured to museums throughout Europe. That same year a documentary about her life and work, I’ll Be Your Mirror, made in collaboration with Edmund Coulthard, was awarded a Teddy Award for Best Essay at the Berlin Film Festival. In 2001 a second retrospective of her work, Le Feu Follet, was held at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, and toured internationally as The Devil’s Playground. In 2006, Goldin was awarded the Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres by the French government. And, in 2007, she received the Hasselblad Award in Photography. Goldin’s most recent slide show, Scopophilia, was commissioned by the Louvre and shown there in 2010. Goldin lives in Berlin, Paris, and New York.

The most iconic work by Nan Goldin (though The Devil's Playground is very important too) – a must for any Goldin fan.

This book is truly exquisite as well as exquisitely produced. The photographs span a rather long period - from the mid-70s to the mid-80s - and document Nan Goldin's group of friends and lovers. The photographs are divided topically: one section containing, for example, all portraits of women, another, scenes of strife. The photographs are subtle and gorgeous and repay repeated viewing to catch the many wonderful details. The forward and afterword are both movingly and wonderfully written. Thanks to those who revived this project and put it into such wonderful book form. Anyone interested in photography of the last thirty years will certainly want to own a copy.

Gorgeous, moody photographs from an interesting artist. I read about this book in the New Yorker magazine - some of the photos are currently being exhibited in a retrospective in New York City (at MoMA??). The book takes me back to the '70s and '80s when, like Goldin, I lived in the Boston area, London, and New York City. Authentic bohemian life is depicted. Some of the photos are sexually graphic but a lot of them just show settings and clothing and moods of the period.

The collection of memories that Ms. Goldin has are heartbreaking but yet at the same time sweet. Goldin finds a positive in every negative. She dedicated the book to her deceased sister who committed suicide many decades ago. Join Nan Goldin by buying this book. I recommend The Ballad of Sexual Dependency for all photography major and even the general public because it's very persuasive.

Nan Golden achieves in this book a thing that is very difficult for most photographers to do well. She makes pictures of great power because they are connected to deep personal experiences, good moments and bad.
