Breath of fresh air read on triathlon training - planning - life balance, in context of performance improvement. Really liked the structure and ease of following along. A wealth of science and experience backed approaches represented. Focused on getting the basics right (the 95%) versus buying more equipment (the 5%). Lots of case studies and examples. I expect to bring much of this insight into my season planning and training. **Actual race training plans are a bonus!
If you're only going to get one training book for triathlon, make it this one. The book clearly lays out all the elements need to succeed and excel at triathlon without compromising all the other important things in your life like family, friends and sleep.Half of the book is dedicated to laying out Matt's philosophy of training and the important fundamentals you will need and the second half of the book has detailed training plans for Ironman and 70.3 distance races. The book is a tome of excellent information, practical advice and inspiration.
I've been doing triathlon for 11 years and with different coaches. Started training with Matt and PPF in 2016 and have only seen good results, both in personal life and as a triathlete.This books gives you all of the tools you need to perform better, and focus on important things like sleep and nutrition (YES, ITS A GAME CHANGER).Stop reading reviews and start reading the book.
Great book and finally an approach that doesn’t just take what the pros do and scale it down. Instead, it recognizes the need for a completely different approach given it is a completely different situation. For example, recognizing that sometimes getting the extra sleep is better than torturing yourself to get the early morning session will make healthier, better triathletes that will last longer. Great way to integrate triathlon into your work and family life rather than sacrificing them!
Good direction and questions answered in this read and very helpful information it is worth the read.
I think this is a very good book for a working and busy person who wants to get into triathlons. Good read.
